Project Overview
The Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads section's major challenge for construction was crossing the Nambucca River and floodplains of Warrell Creek.
Some of the key features of this section of highway upgrade include large bridges over the Nambucca River and Warrell Creek along with new interchanges at Bald Hill Road, Warell Creek and north facing ramps at Old Coast Road. The new interchanges allow safer access on and off the highway and improved access to local communities.
The highway upgrade opened in two sections with the 14 kilometres bypass of Macksville opening to traffic in December 2017 and the final six kilometres section between Upper Warrell Creek Road and Bald Hill Road opening traffic in June 2018.
